Tiderange was renamed Tidesurge on 28 June 1958.
Tide Class Fleet Tankers. Built 1955/6. 16800dwt.
RFA Tidereach A96. RFA Tideflow A97 (ex Tiderace). RFA Tidesurge A98 (Ex Tiderange). In service until 1976/9. RFA Tide Austral A95. HMAS Supply from 1962.
Length: 583ft Beam:71ft. Draught: 32ft. Depth: 40ft 6in
Machinery: 2 x Pametrada steam turbines with double reduction gearing, 16,000shp, 3 x Babcock & Wilcox watertube boilers, single shaft. Speed: 17-18 knots
Armament: Tidereach fitted for light AA, but not fitted; Tide Austral fitted with 8 x 40mm AA after transfer to RAN. Complement: 90
